Physical Therapy Services of RI was founded by Michael and Donna Noonan in 1989. Michael worked solo for the first few months. He served as receptionist, scheduler, accounts receivable agent, and most importantly, physical therapist. Donna assisted by laundering the pillowcases and towels and cleaning the office, usually with 3 preschoolers in tow. Yes, it was definitely a family endeavor! Eventually, we added another physical therapist and office manager to the team. PTSRI worked out of a small rent office for 12 years before moving just down the street to our own facility, which is our present location at 300 Tower Hill Road in North Kingstown.

In 1995, a second office was opened in the South Kingstown Office Park in Wakefield, RI. PTSRI has become a longstanding and trusted friend and neighbor in the community. From sponsoring local soccer teams to treating entire families over the years, from toddlers to grandparents, PTSRI has been there, providing quality physical and occupational therapy services to North and South Kingstown residents and the surrounding communities for 19 years. Our location and staff may have changed over time, but our philosophy has not. We continue to provide holistic hands-on therapy. We are 100% therapist owned. |
Mission Statement:
Since 1989, Physical Therapy Services of RI has been dedicated to providing the highest level of hands-on physical and occupational therapy to South County and the surrounding areas in RI.
Our goal is not to just treat a diagnosis, but to work with the whole person. We believe our patients play a vital role in achieving optimal health, successful rehabilitation, and wellness. Our team provides not only therapeutic modalities and procedures but also patient education. We also strive to establish patient independence in a home exercise program and a healthier lifestyle following discharge.
Patients are considered an intricate part of the team here at PTSRI.

All patients are welcome to our practice. In order to comply with some insurance company’s internal policies, and for them to reimburse a claim, a referral/prescription from your physician will be required. Download a Physician Referral Form for your physician to complete.
Fee for service is also accepted and does not require a referral. The State of Rhode Island statues allows for direct access to a physical therapist without a physician referral since 1992.
If you are looking for that something more, that place where caring and high skill level come together to create an atmosphere that brings help and healing, then Physical Therapy Services of RI is the place for you. At Physical Therapy Services of RI we are looking for individuals who have a heart that truly cares for the patients they treat, while at the same time striving to achieve excellence in their manual orthopedic skills within a friendly team environment.
Physical Therapy Services of RI is a therapist owned and operated practice serving the community and State of RI since 1989. Physical and occupational therapy services are provided in two locations. We have an office in historic Wickford village and one in the costal town of Wakefield Rhode Island. Both of these towns offer outstanding benefits to individuals and growing families. High ratings in education, many recreational activities, close proximity to University of Rhode Island and a 20 to 30 minutes drive to the capital city of Providence also adds to the desirability of this area. Though Rhode Island is the smallest state, we have 400 miles of coastline. A two hour drive north and you have some of the best skiing in New England. Come be a part of the team!
